Autopsy completed on man shot in Jewelry Concepts


An autopsy has been completed on the 17-year-old who was shot during a robbery attempt at Jewelry Concepts on Friday evening.

Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia says Brandon Pierce died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

Rockford Police responded to the jewelry store in the North Towne Mall just before 5:00 p.m. According to police, Pierce was armed when he attempted to rob the store, and the owner shot him. Pierce died at the scene.

Toxicology tests will be returned in two to three weeks.

Pierce's death is still under investigation by the Rockford Police Department Detective Bureau.
