Rockford youth hockey league gets free equipment

A grant from the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois, Inc. will give $3,580 worth of hockey equipment to Rockford's MinorHawks Youth Hockey League.

Forty kits, including helmets, shoulder and elbow pads, gloves, shin guards, a Blackhawks jersey, and a hockey stick in an equipment bag will be available at no cost to new players in the league for six- to 15-year-olds.

The grant was made possible through USA Hockey's "One Goal" program, which is supported by the Chicago Blackhawks.
