Miss Illinois helps out The Salvation Army

Miss Illinois offers her time as a kettle bell ringer.

Megan Ervin, Miss Illinois 2012, helped accept cash donations and toys for the Christmas programs of The Salvation Army in Winnebago County.

This isn't the first time Miss Illinois has helped the community or even rang a bell for that matter.  She organized the bell ringing for The Salvation Army when she was in college.

"Giving back and doing toy drives and things like that have been something I've done through my church and through my own community growing up."

The Red Kettle campaign wishes to raise $200,000 this year.  If you would like to volunteer to ring bells, go to www.ringbells.org to sign up.
