2 arrested for Rockford home invasion

Two men have been arrested for a home invasion that left a man shot in the leg and a dog dead.

Rockford police responded to a home in the 1200 block of Burton Street just after 8:00 p.m. on November 16. There, they found a victim shot in the leg by suspects who were armed with firearms. The dog inside the home was also shot, and killed.

A follow-up investigation led to 28-year-old Nicholas M. Bryant and 24-year-old Mechos C. Freeman both facing three counts of Home Invasion, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Freeman was arrested just after 4:00 p.m. on November 23 in the 1300 block of 27th Street, and Bryant was arrested just after 4:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Building on November 27.
