Rockford Rescue Mission asks for help to provide Thanksgiving dinner

Scores of hungry and struggling people will crowd the Rockford Rescue Mission on November 21 for its annual Thanksgiving dinner.

However, the mission relies on donations and volunteers to make the dinner possible and it's still in need of help for this Wednesday afternoon.

Most of the food for the dinner is donated, so it only costs $2.05 per plate. The mission is asking for donations of both money and food in order to help provide the traditional meal to those in need.

"Here in our community, where the hearts of our citizens are so big and their compassion is so strong, no one should go hungry—especially at Thanksgiving," Executive Director Sherry Pitney says.
