Rockford artists gather in for Downtown Artist/Artisan Market

The Rockford Art Guild, the ELEMENT Rockford, and Veterans Memorial Hall teamed up to give local artists a space to show their wares.

The first ever Rockford Art Guild Downtown Artist/Artisan Market began Friday. The market featured art by members of the Guild and a market with handmade goods like soaps, baked goods, jewelry, and clothing.

Organizers made sure the market would feature something for everyone. "Part of that is because our demographic has changed and the Guild has changed. When I started years ago, there were only 25 members and everyone painted, and now we have 80 plus members and they do whatever you see here," Rockford Art Guild President Barbara Berney said.

The Market will also be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Hall.
