Rockford Police increasing enforcement over Thanksgiving

In an effort to ensure motorists are being as safe as possible over the holiday season, The Rockford Police Department will step up seat belt enforcement over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Extra patrols have been scheduled throughout the city to boost enforcement. Last year, eight people died in car crashes over Thanksgiving, four of those deaths involved a drunk driver.

The Rockford Police Department is reminding motorists that wearing a seat belt is the most effective way to protect yourself and reduce fatalities in car crashes.

Anyone found not wearing a seat belt will run the risk of receiving a ticket.
