Veteran small business summit to be held in Rockford

Representatives from the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and Illinois Central Management Services will visit Rockford next week to give a presentation on opportunities for veteran small business owners.

The "Mission: Veterans 2 Entrepreneurs" event will be held on Tuesday, November 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Navy Club of Rockford at 2324 Charles Street. Veterans will learn about procurement opportunities with the state and other federal and local government agencies. Other not-for-profits and local government agencies that provide assistance to small business owners will also be there.

The program is free and will provide information on how veterans can certify their business as "veteran-owned," which will make them eligible for up to three percent of state government contracts and services.
