Ogle County State's Attorney appointed resident circuit judge

The Ogle County State's Attorney has been appointed as Resident Circuit Judge of Ogle County in the 15th Judicial Circuit by the Illinois Supreme Court.

John Benjamin Roe IV will replace Judge Michael T. Mallon, who is retiring on December 4. Mallon's term is unexpired and Roe's appointment will be effective on January 7, 2013.

"I am looking forward to serving the people of Ogle County as Circuit Judge," Roe said. "I recognize the responsibilities of a Circuit Judge and I will fulfill them to the best of my ability."

Roe was elected as Ogle County's State's Attorney in 2004 and has contributed to the development of an adult drug court, a juvenile drug court that will open next year, a domestic violence response protocol, and juvenile justice diversion and detention alternative programming.

Roe received a juris doctorate from Northern Illinois University College of Law. He now lives in Rochelle.
