2 Rockford women donating turkeys to Sandy victims

Thanks to local efforts, individuals and families affected by Sandy will have a good Thanksgiving.

Betty Kitzman and Judy Boerman are asking people in the Rockford area to donate a turkey to help out those on the East Coast. The two plan to hit the road for New Jersey with 25 to 30 cooked turkeys and hand them out to those in need.

"We're doing it from the heart, and we're doing it because we think there might be a small need," Kitzman said. "We're not as cold and we're not as wet."

The women leave next Tuesday. If you'd like to help, call Kitzman at 779-770-0285.
