Rockford Police respond to shots fired at Anderson and Johnston

Reports of five shots fired led Rockford Police to the scene of a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Anderson Street and Johnston Avenue.

A beige 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with Wisconsin plates had collided with a stop sign and a fire hydrant. The rear window of the car was shot out. No occupants were located inside and no shell casings were found in the area.

A caller told police a male, about 5'9" with a stocky build and wearing a red hat, black sweatshirt, and gray pants was seen walking from the area. He was last seen heading northbound on Henrietta, but police did not make contact with that man or determine whether or not he was involved with the incident.

It is not known if there were any injuries. No victims, shell casings, or any evidence of gunfire aside from the window of the car were found at the scene.
