Holiday market to feature vendors from around Rockford region

The members of Winnebago Buy Local are teaming up to put a home town spin on the holidays.

The group is hosting "A Local Holiday Market 2012" on Saturday, December 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rockford College Regents Center. The market will feature only locally owned businesses so shoppers can get all of their gifts in one spot.

"Winnebago County is latching onto the great idea of 'Shopping Local,' so we decided to, once again this year, bring a bunch of local businesses into one place for one day and let the folks in our community support their local businesses in a very big way!" Winnebago Buy Local Director Lauren Davis said.

Winnebago Buy Local is a not-for-profit group that encourages supporting local businesses. For every dollar spent with a local business, up to 68 cents stays in the local economy, thereby helping the community thrive.

Admission and parking are free. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
