A short film made by local Girl Scouts is sending a big message against bullying.
Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois premiered its short film "I Am the Music: A Rock Operetta" on Monday, November 12. Cast members, their families, and anti-bullying advocates crowded into the Showplace 16 theater to watch the story of a girl who overcomes the challenge of being bullied.
"The girls are actually sharing what its like at school and what kinds of things go on," CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, Vicki Wright, said.
"I feel really honored to try and make an impact in another girl's life, to show her that bullying, it doesn't have to be accepted," Girl Scout and actress in the film, Aubrey Baker-Clark, said. "You can stand up to it and your friends can help you and you can make it through it."
The director of the film and the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois have graciously dedicated the film to the memory of WREX's own Jeannie Hayes.
