Local products are finding new homes around the world at a rapid rate.
Exports from the Rockford region increased 19 percent in 2011, a record amount since data was first collected in 2005. The European Union receives most of the exports from the area, with North America and Asia next in line.
The growth in the region was higher than growth for exports from the United States as a whole.
"Our companies are becoming more internationally competitive, competing at a global scale, which means ore jobs for Rockford companies," Manager of SBDC International Trade Carrie Zethmayr said.
