Rockford Park District holds tribute to veterans


Members of the community gathered at Loves Park City Hall for a tribute to local veterans on Friday.

The Rockford Park District Foundation hosted the event, which featured Earl Dotson Jr. as a keynote speaker. Dotson is the Chief of Communications & Empowerment for District 205 and is also a United States Navy Desert Storm Veteran.

The even also included a Presentation of Colors and a Three-Shot Rifle Volley by VFW Post 9759 and U.S. Marine Corps League. The Harlem High School Wind Ensemble provided music and the Harlem High School Choraleers and Wind Ensemble performed "God Bless America".

A short wreath laying ceremony was held afterward at the Field of Honor Veterans Memorial.
