A new website launched through the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs and the State of Illinois will help Veterans, service members, and their families find support and services they need.
Illinois Joining Forces (IJF) is a public-private partnership that hopes to increase collaboration and communication between non-profits and public agencies serving Veterans at state, local, and federal levels.
IJF will address gaps in services when it comes to job training and placement, healthcare, education, and housing. It will also help refer those in need of assistance to the proper resources.
"The so-called 'sea of goodwill' toward veterans and their families is wonderfully encouraging for those of use who have served," Erica Borggren, IDVA Director and U.S. Army Captain, said. "However, the sea has also been nearly unnavigable, with hundreds of organizations and no system of support to connect and make sense of them. IJF represents a first-of-its-kind statewide effort to make the sea of goodwill navigable. The tools IJF will offer directly to veterans and to the community of support are powerful and exciting."
The platform will go online on November 19 and will be available at www.IllinoisJoiningForces.org.
