Nicholas Sheley
The case against the man accused of killing 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling has been decided by a jury.
Nicholas Sheley has been found guilty of killing Reed in his home before stealing his car and wallet. The jury took less than three hours to come back with the verdict.
During the trial, prosecutors claimed Sheley's desperation for money to fuel his alleged drug problem led him to bludgeon Reed to death.
Sheley is accused of killing eight people in Illinois and Missouri in 2008. He has previously been convicted in the bludgeoning death of a Galesburg man and faces future trials in the deaths of six others.
