A representative of the Dekalb County Coroner's Office says the autopsy of the NIU student found dead at a fraternity house is inconclusive.
David R. Bogenberger, 19, of Osprey, Florida, was found unresponsive in the Pi Kappa Alpha house at 10:14 a.m. Friday morning. Bogenberger was not a resident of the fraternity house, and lived in a dormitory on campus.
Members of the DeKalb Fire Department, DeKalb Police Department, and NIU Police Department responded. Paramedics with the fire department were unable to resuscitate Bogenberger, who was pronounced dead by DeKalb County Coroner Denny Miller at 10:45 a.m.
A release from the DeKalb Police Department says there were "no obvious signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances." However, Miller says there was evidence alcohol had been consumed at the house and interviews with other students have led investigators to believe alcohol may have been a factor.
The death is currently under investigation by police, the DeKalb County Coroner's Office, and NIU officials.
The university has expressed its condolences to the student's family and friends. Counseling services have been set up on campus for students in need.
The coroner is waiting on toxicology reports to come back on BogenBerger. That could take up to two weeks.
