A Poplar Grove haunted house makes a big change to accommodate new rules.
R.I.P. Productions presents "Dark Stalkers" at the Screamatorium Haunted House.
No matter how scary, R.I.P. Productions assures its attendees safety is number one with wand checks on patrons, muster points and everything inside is sprayed with flame retardant. Recent regulations have added strict rules to haunted houses, including not allowing them to have a roof.
Rick Richey, actor and director at the Fear Asylum and Screamatorium, says unfortunately the new rules have had a much larger effect.
"They have forced many of these smaller mom and pop operations to go out of business, hence hurting the economy in a certain area because their haunted house brings people from outside the city, outside the state even."
Dark Stalkers is open 7-11p.m. this Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10, available only at the Screamatorium box office.
