A panel of coaches, athletic directors and physical education teachers from public schools and colleges celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Title IX.
Title IX lifted restrictions for women participating in competitive sports.
The celebration gave women a chance to tell their stories of discrimination in athletics, both before and after the legislation was passed in 1972. Christine Haegguist, V.P. of Membership with American Association of University Women of Greater Rockford says "There's still a long ways to go with Title IX and with women in athletics." The AAUW sponsored the event.
