
Rockford police trade in their badges for aprons and it's all for a good cause.
The fundraiser takes place at the East State Red Robin, benefiting the Special Olympics.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a year round fund raising effort and the single largest of it's kind for Special Olympics.
Local police wait on customers and bus tables while taking donations for the Torch Run with every cent collected going toward the Special Olympics.
"Both our sworn officers and our civilian cap volunteers are assisting the red robin staff here explaining what the torch run is and how it supports special Olympics through law enforcement," said Lt. Pat Hoey.
