National donation helps with local Red Cross disaster response

STEPHENSON COUNTY (WREX) - Several local counties will benefit from a large donation to chapters of the American Red Cross all over the country.

Briggs & Stratton donated about 850 generators and 500 pressure washers to areas throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

One generator and one pressure washer will come to the American Red Cross Northwest Illinois Chapter, based in Moline.  That chapter covers parts of the Rockford area, including Carroll, Jo Davies, and Stephenson Counties.

"The generators can supply power at disaster shelters and service centers during relief operations and even power devices within our chapter's offices," said Leslie Mastroianni, Executive Director. "We'll use the pressure washers to wash cots and food containers after disasters and for other cleaning projects."
