Rise in car burglaries plaguing Rockford's east side

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

A few well known spots along East State Street have been the target for car burglars recently.

During this month's Compstat meeting, the Rockford Police Department shared they have gotten multiple calls from Rockford College, OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, and Hobby Lobby.

According to police, burglars are targeting vehicles left in the parking lot for long periods of time. Police suggest drivers take any valuables such as computers or GPS units with them or put them out of sight before leaving the car.
