Artists who don't mind getting their hands a little cold have the chance to join the Annual Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition.
The competition will be held at Sinnissippi Park from January 16 through January 19. Teams from around Illinois will converge on the park to compete for a spot in the U.S. Nationals Snow Sculpting Competition.
Each team must have a maximum number of three participants and each participant must be 18 or older, and current Illinois residents. Both amateurs and professionals are eligible.
Applications can be found at www.snowsculpting.org. Entry forms and sketches of proposed sculptures have to be in by 5:00 p.m. on November 5. Those unable to download the application can call John Beck at 815-987-1636.
You can submit your entry at either the Webbs Norman Center or Carlson Ice Arena. Entries can also be emailed or faxed in (details can be found on applications).
There is no fee to participate and accepted teams will be notified by November 9.
