Portion of West State Street closed for construction - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader

Beginning today, October 10th, a portion of West State Street will be closed for construction.
Capital Program Manager for the City of Rockford Patrick Zuroske says the closing is only the beginning of a much larger project. "This particular portion of the project is nothing more than the water and sanitary sewer improvements that are needed before we build the street."
The closed stretch of U.S. Business Route 20 runs from Kilburn Avenue to Stewart Avenue. A detour is in place. The City of Rockford anticipates West State Street will be closed until December 1, 2012 .
After the water and sewer project is done, the surface of the roadway will be repaved.
