Rockford City Council considers whether one downtown nightclub should be allowed to sell alcohol in a new way.
Kryptonite on West State Street wants its liquor license modified so it can sell 6-packs of craft beer and hold tasting festivals. 1st Ward Alderman Tim Durkee says because the owners of Kryptonite are responsible and help bring people to the downtown area, the council is considering a 1-year experimental period for them.
Durkee says, "they're doing something a little bit different, but we'd like to see that at least be tested and go forward."
For now, aldermen have laid over the motion for further discussion and public comment, but Durkee says other establishments can also apply for the same license modification. They will be subject to the same type of review.
