The portion of West State Street from Kilburn Avenue to Stewart Avenue will be closed for almost two months for a water and sewer main rerouting project.
Existing water mains, valves, vaults, services, and associated appurtenances will be replaced with a new eight-inch, 16-inch, and 24-inch water main, valves, and hydrants. An existing 24-inch diameter water main with 14-inch and 18-inch HDPE pipe will be relined, and old sewers will be abandoned and replaced with new ones.
The project is an effort to avoid potential issues with the Illinois Department of Transportation's planned West State Street roadway reconstruction project.
The road will be closed beginning at noon on Wednesday, October 10 until December 1. A detour will be in place.
