Golf outing has IceHogs hitting the green, not the ice

Members of the Rockford IceHogs laid down the hockey sticks in favor of golf clubs for a good cause.

The IceHogs teamed up with the Rockford Park District to host the 2nd Annual Birdies and Blades golf outing. The outing allows each participating threesome to team up with a 2012 - 2013 IceHogs player or coach.

The outing is a "good way to reach out to the community and the team together before the start of the season," Rockford IceHogs Head Coach Ted Dent said.

The park district's new Junior Street Hogs program was the beneficiary of the event, which was held at Elliot Golf Course.
