A Janesville man faces several charges after being arrested for his eighth OWI.
A driver called the Rock County 911 Center around 9:15 a.m. Monday morning to report an erratic driver on USH 14. According to the caller, a red 2003 Pontiac Grand Am was swerving into the oncoming lane of traffic and forced a car in the opposite lane to drive onto the shoulder to avoid a crash.
The car was later seen by a deputy on Highland Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Michael Multon, evaded officers when they attempted to stop him. The chase was called off due to Multon reaching speeds of 70 mph. Multon was later taken into custody at his home.
Multon was arrested for 8th offense OWI (felony), prohibited alcohol concentration (.16), fleeing (felony), operating after revocation (alcohol related), and open intoxicants. He refused field sobriety tests.
Multon is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court on October 9.
