The Rockford area saw a decrease of 7.1 cents per gallon of gas over the last week, according to GasBuddy.com.
Prices were down to an average of $3.80 on Sunday, 39.2 cents higher than they were one year ago, but 14.5 cents lower than one month ago. The national average decreased only 1.3 cents per gallon and is 37.2 cents higher than one year ago.
"Thanks largely due to the situation in California, the national average rose slightly in the last week," GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan said. "The good news for Californians is to expect relief this week. Around the rest of the nation I expect a mixed bag, with prices not moving significantly in either direction from what I can see at this time."
