KNIB hosts fall recyclables drive for electronics

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful holds it's Fall Metals & Electronics Drive.

For a limited time Saturday, folks dropped off their computers, monitors and other devices to be recycled at the Machesney Park Mall parking lot.  On January 1st, a state bill made it illegal to dispose of the items.

KNIB Executive Director Lori Gummow says it's important to save space in our landfills for things that can't be recycled.

The drive accepts scrap metal, electronics and many other items, most for free.  They can't accept televisions and there is a charge for some things like refrigerators and freezers.
