Man found in Rockford public toilet identified


A 61-year-old man found dead in downtown Rockford has been identified by the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

Samuel Charles Wallace of Charleston, Illinois was found dead at the parking garage located at 100 North Water Street on Thursday afternoon. Wallace was homeless and it is unknown why he was in the Rockford area.

An autopsy was conducted on Friday and there was no obvious trauma to his body. It is believed that Wallace died of natural causes.
