Blood drive tonight urges help for cancer patients - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader

ROCKFORD (WREX) - Tonight a special blood drive puts a spotlight on the fight against breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Rock River Valley Blood Center says blood donations are crucial for cancer patients.
You can stop by FitMeWellness this evening from 4:00 until 8:00 at Brynwood Shopping Center, located at 2595 N. Mulford Road in Rockford. Anyone who registers in an attempt to donate will be entered into a drawing to win a complimentary membership to the fitness center, or a credit on your account if you already belong to FitMe Wellness.
"Helping to make cancer treatments possible is a fundamental part of the blood and marrow collection industries. Our wish is to recognize those battling breast cancers, honor the lives lost and celebrate survivors while providing support to families," said Jennifer Bowman, Rock River Valley Blood Center. "It is our sincere hope that no cancer patient will ever go without treatment due to a blood shortage or lack of a matching marrow cell donor."
