Local law enforcement teams up for roadside check in Rockford


A total of 50 citations/arrests were handed out by local law enforcement officers during a roadside safety check in Rockford.

The check took place at IL Route 2 northbound at Whitman Street during the late evening hours of September 29 and the early morning hours of September 30. Members of Illinois State Police District 16, the Rockford Police Department, and the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department carried out the detail.

The following citations were issued:

  • Registration offenses - 3
  • Driver's license offenses - 7
  • Occupant restraint offenses - 11
  • Driving under the influence arrests - 3
  • Other alcohol/drug arrests - 9
  • Total citations/arrests - 50
  • Total written warnings - 12

The roadside safety check was funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
