SYCAMORE, Ill. (AP) -- The northern Illinois community of Sycamore is moving forward with video gambling.
WNIJ Radio (http://bit.ly/SyWpC4) reports that aldermen in Sycamore voted Monday night to approve installing gambling terminals in bars and fraternal organizations.
A lawmaker says more capital construction projects will soon get off the ground now that the video gambling launch is near.
Democratic Rep. Frank Mautino of Spring Valley says it's a key funding component of a massive infrastructure program. But Mautino says video gambling has been on hold while a regulation structure was put in place.
The Illinois Gaming Board says a computer monitoring system is currently being tested. Officials say if all goes well, gambling machines in licensed establishments could be running this fall.
