Volunteers worked today to make sure every third grader in Rockford Public Schools has a dictionary.
The effort is part of Dictionary Fund Sort Day. This is the 16th year books have been given to District 205 students. The group uses privately raised money to buy the books. Which they say help get young students started on the right path.
"We all think it's a great idea that the third grade students in Rockford Public Schools have a dictionary. It's something that they can take with them that belongs to them no matter what their economic situation is they have a book that they can call their own. It's a very good book that will hopefully last them a lifetime," said Dictionary Fund Board member Gary Confer.
22 dollars pays for one book. You can donate to The Dictionary Fund by mailing to PO Box 4154, Rockford IL 61110.
