A McHenry County couple is accused of not taking proper care of 17 Great Danes at their Spring Grove home.
Investigators searched the home and found a large amount of feces in the home. Nine of the dogs tested positive for Giardia, a parasite that can be passed to humans.
All of the dogs have been removed from the home and are being treated by animal services. They were also suffering from malnutrition.
Sal Messina, 40, and Patricia Messina, 43, faces charges and are due in court in October.
