Joe Bruscato was raised in Rockford and attended Rockford Public Schools through the 8th grade.
He graduated from Boylan High School in 1980. After high school, Joe attended Marquette University, graduating in 1984 with a BA in Political Science and History.
Joe then attended Marquette University Law School, graduating in 1987 with a Juris Doctor Degree.

On November 4, 2008, Joe was elected State's Attorney of Winnebago County, and is the first democrat to hold this position in the history of Winnebago County.
Joe serves on the Illinois State's Attorney Appellate Prosecutor's Board of Governors.
Joe is an active member of the Illinois State's Attorney Association, serving on the Executive and Legislative Committees. Joe also serves on the Adult Redeploy Illinois Oversight Board.
Joe is the father of three children and resides in Rockford.
