ESPN crew visits Rockford to focus on athletic eligibility standards

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

An ESPN camera crew visited Auburn High School Thursday for a story on athletic eligibility requirements.

Rockford Public School District 205 was ahead of the national trend when it changed its policy from a minimum 2.0 GPA to play, to a pass five policy. That means a student has to be passing five classes in order to be eligible to play sports.

ESPN interviewed a couple of Auburn football players and spent the day with them. The story is scheduled to air in October on ESPN's "Outside the Lines" program.

RPS 205 Athletic Director Mat Parker says ESPN is scheduled to return to Auburn to shoot a home football game sometime in the next month.
