Long-time Rockford Salvation Army volunteer dies

One of the Salvation Army's most ardent supporters has passed away.

Norma Baker died Friday, August 31, at the age of 77 from acute leukemia. She was diagnosed in July of this year. She served the Rockford Temple Corps of the Salvation Army as the community relations director and the volunteer director.

Baker is remembered as a mentor to others and someone who could get along with everyone she met. Her warm personality made every new acquaintance a friend.

Baker joined the Salvation Army's girl guards soon after moving to Rockford from Dixon at the age of 10.
