MACHESNEY PARK (WREX) -

Machesney Park Village President Tom Strickland talks about why is will not run seek another term in office. The village leader says his almost four years representing Machesney Park have been rewarding but he is upset about some recent changes.

"Originally when it was put out, the village administrator was supposed to be reporting to the mayor, then they changed it around where the board now, the village administrator reports to him. I just feel that it's not fair to the people to be voting for a mayor that really doesn't have the authority," says Strickland.

Strickland has about 8 months left on his term.  He plans to work hard getting the annual Christmas Toy Drive together and supporting Machesney Park businesses through the Route 173 construction.  After he term is up Strickland says he may go back to hydraulics consulting or possibly retire for good, but either way he has no plans to move out of the area.
