The Rockford Park District Police are stepping up enforcement in Shorewood Park.
Five men were arrested during a sting in June, four for public indecency and one for battery. As a result, the RPD Police are teaming up with Loves Park Police to keep the park safe. One person was arrested in another sting on Monday, August 20.
"Our constant efforts at Shorewood Park are having a significant impact, as suspicious activity has been reduced," Rockford Park District Police Sergeant Mark West said. "It is our intention to continue enforcement efforts so families can enjoy the park without having to worry about illegal activities."
The Park District Police are encouraging the community to report any suspicious activity they see at parks, such as vandalism, littering, crime, etc., to the department by calling 815-966-2900. In case of emergency, members of the community should call 911.
