It is well known by now that texting while driving is a deadly practice, so a Rockford radio station is encouraging its listeners to think twice before sending their messages.

WXRX 104.9FM and sponsors launched the "X the Text" initiative on Monday, August 20. The station is asking the entire community to sign the pledge to not text and drive. Those that sign will receive an X the Text thumb band to serve as a reminder and could also win a rock concert for their school. Participants that are not in school can still win other prizes.
