One Rockford group is using Facebook to battle police brutality. 'Rockford Against Police Brutality' formed on Facebook only a week ago, and met in person for the first time today at Beattie Park.
The group plans to spread awareness on police injustice in the city of Rockford. Group leaders stress that it is not an anti-police group, but rather a peaceful organization hoping to shed light on a controversial topic.
"It's just an abuse of power, and I'm not saying that they're not doing their job by doing what they do with criminals, but committing another crime in turn by being brutal when it's not necessary, of course when it's no necessary then that's two crimes," said Bryce DeVol. "Two wrongs don't make a right."
The group is still deciding on a date for sometime in September to hold an awareness march.
