The Illinois State Comptroller's Office has named the Rockford City Market a leader in agricultural tourism.
The market was honored during Agri-tourism Day at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. Fifteen other agri-tourism leaders were honored that day as well.
"We're pleased the Comptroller's Office has chosen to honor Rockford City Market with its agri-tourism award," Rock River Development Partnership Chairman Peter Provenzano said. "The market works to promote local growers and entrepreneurs who sell natural products. Most of the vendors come from a 150-mile radius, ensuring produce and other goods are locally produced. It's wonderful to see our efforts receive recognition at the state level."
The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau nominated the Rockford City Market for the award. The market is held every Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. along Water Street in Downtown Rockford. After Labor Day, the market will close at 7:00 p.m.
