Teen arrested for several Rockford burglaries

A Rockford teen has been arrested for two burglaries that occurred in the area of 1900 Auburn Street during the last week.

The first incident occurred on August 11 at 1318 Evelyn around 1:00 p.m. A female resident told police that a male suspect had climbed a tree next to her house and entered the house through a second story window. After the suspect was confronted by the resident, he escaped out of the same window and down the tree.

The second incident took place on August 15 at 1914 Auburn Street. Officers found a broken window on the home and noticed an individual inside the residence. The suspect in this case escaped out the back door of the home without arrest.

A follow up investigation led to an arrest warrant being put out for 17-year-old Marcus Bernard Perkins. He was arrested on August 16 around 8:00 a.m. at 1904 Auburn Street.

Rockford Police are not officially releasing Perkins' photo due to the ongoing investigation.
