
A 22-year-old Lanark man is dead after his car was struck by another driver who allegedly ran a stop sign.
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Route 64 and Route 26, just west of Mount Morris. According to an investigation, Richard Dalporto, 58, of Roselle, ran a stop sign at Route 26. His car then struck a car driven by Spencer Atherton.
Atherton was airlifted to Rockford Memorial in serious condition. He was later pronounced dead. Dalporto was transported to KSB Hospital with minor injuries. He has been cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to stop at a stop sign.
The accident is still under investigation.
