A Winnebago County bridge is officially open again after getting a nearly year-long facelift.
The ribbon has been cut on the Montague Road bridge that runs over the east fork of Mill Creek. The bridge had been closed since last November so workers could widen driving lanes and strengthen the structure.
According to Winnebago County Board Chairman Scott Christiansen, the bridge was becoming too dangerous to keep open without repairs. "It was getting to the point where you can't dare to keep it open. You didn't want any severe problems, so you make do, and I think we did an excellent job of that," he said.
The bridge was officially reopened Wednesday morning.
