McHenry Co. deputy charged with child sex abuse and exploitation

A 36-year-old McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy faces federal charges after being arrested for sexually abusing a child and producing child pornography through exploitation of a child.

Gregory M. Pyle of Crest Hills was arrested and charged Tuesday after another person under investigation for child pornography identified several user names of other people he traded child pornography with. Pyle was then identified as using two of those user names.

In a later interview, a minor told law enforcement officials that Pyle sexually abused him on several occasions. The complaint states Pyle traveled with the minor, who was 10 at the time, to Wisconsin with the intent of engaging in a sexual act and then producing child pornography from the incident. According to the complaint, Pyle then transmitted that pornography via the internet.

U.S. Magistrate P. Michael Mahoney ordered Pyle to be held in federal custody without bond pending a detention hearing on August 17.
