Future Rock Valley College students have the chance to further their education thanks to scholarship funds raised by Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois.
Goodwill raised $15,000 in funds through the Goodwill Diva Dress Sale and Fashion Show last March. The scholarships will go toward helping people with barriers to advancing their education. The following scholarships will receive the funds:
"The scholarship program is a perfect match for Goodwill's mission of assisting persons with barriers to achieve the dignity of work through advanced education at Rock Valley College," President of Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois Sam Schmitz said.
President of Rock Valley College Dr. Jack Becherer added, "RVC is honored and grateful to accept this generous scholarship donation. Contributions such as this directly impact the lives of many in our community. Together Goodwill and RVC are changing lives through education."
Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is a non-profit organization based in Rockford that provides jobs training and placement services for people with barriers to achieve employment. It is one of the 165 agencies under Goodwill Industries International.
